Caninius "Canine Gene Dog" Woof Eugene Skippy Dogicus is one of the two protagonists in CatDog.

He is voiced by Tom Kenny, who also voices Cliff, and various characters for Nickelodeon (and Paramount), Cartoon Network (and Warner Bros.), and Disney. he was born on July 12th

Profile

Dog is the younger of the twins. Dog is the more happy-go-lucky and naïve of the two. He is also the source of clumsiness. He's an American Foxhound/Jack Russel Terrier, who is extremely ambitious when Cat or any other character convinces him to take on a task, diving right into it with full force and energy. Dog is a typical loyal dog and is easily convinced. He will believe everything he is told. His attention span is the very short and he is easily distracted by balls, garbage trucks, bones, food, dragonflies, and his overactive imagination. Because of his dysfunctional brain, Dog is usually the one who gets the pair into trouble. Not paying attention to Cat's warnings, his actions almost always end up with some severe consequences. Despite this, in many of the episodes, it is shown that Dog is usually the one that is more popular and athletic of the two, such as the episode when Cat and Dog both went back to school to complete Cat's last day of High School. Like Cat, Dog adores his older brother and looks up to him no matter how many times Cat steers him into danger. His nickname is "son" (only by Rancid Rabbit). Dog is also Shriek's secret crush. Dog is the typical animal; he is often distracted with chasing shadows or going after tennis balls, and loves eating garbage. According to "Fistful of Mail!", Dog considers himself the fastest canine in Nearburg. Much to Cat's dismay, he leaves a mess everywhere he goes. According to the series finale, Dog remembers what their parents were like (ex.: "Mom's four eyes; Dad's slimy green skin.") He is also 26. Dog's catchphrase is "Hi ho diggety," and he usually says this when he is excited about something. He is an American Foxhound/Jack Russell Terrier mix. He lives in Nearburg with his brother, Cat.

Although Dog is very easy-going, he's shown genuine anger and has even resorted to violence in several episodes. In "New Leash on Life", Dog gets mad at Cat when he admits that he lied about the leash-law just to get the former to behave. In "CatDog Catcher", Dog along with the Greasers, Mr. Sunshine, Mervis, and Dunglap brutally attacks Rancid Rabbit as revenge for capturing him, along with the rest of the residents of Nearburg (except Cat).

Physical Appearance

Dog is a marigold dog with a purple circle nose, a brown spot around his left eye, teeth, and three hairs sticking up on top of his head. He also has a whole body with one spot on his chest with his brother Cat (one at either end of its single body).

Trivia

• Towards the end of the show's run, Dog's nose became bigger and Tom Kenny's voice for Dog changed noticeably, somewhat sounding more like SpongeBob according to fans.
• He is allergic to lobster. In the episode "Seeing Eye Dog", when Dog told Cat that he's allergic to lobster, Cat shoved one into Dog's mouth initially believing that Dog wasn't allergic to lobster. After Cat woke up, it was only then that he found out. He also can't eat pecan pie, as he experienced a condition where a tree full of pecans grew on his head according to "Dog's Strange Condition".
• Every month on the 16th, Dog turns into a weredog.
• Even though Dog has low intelligence, he was able to graduate high school and get a driver's license, while Cat for some reason never accomplished them until he was an adult.
  • This brings up suspicion that Dog is actually smarter than he seems and is an idiot savant.
• A running gag of the series is that Dog seems more commonly favored than Cat, who is hated by the town. Along these lines, Dog is much more lucky than Cat. Perhaps because he is nicer and easier to please.
• Dog's voice is provided by Tom Kenny, who also voices the title character in fellow Nicktoons SpongeBob SquarePants, Cupid from The FairlyOdd Parents, Bo Monkey from The Fresh Band Beat of Spies, Heffer Wolfe from Rocko's Modern Life, and other characters related to the show, such as Clifford.
• In the episode "Work Force", he is shown to be a Prize Stuffer for Kavity Krunch Cereal.
• Dog's characteristics may have inspired SpongeBob from SpongeBob SquarePants (since they have the same voice), Slap T. Pooch from Oh Yeah! Cartoons, Dudley Puppy from T.U.F.F. Puppy, and Spike from Rugrats.
• He is the CatDog counterpart of SpongeBob from fellow Nicktoon, SpongeBob SquarePants.
• Dog and SpongeBob (another nicktoon character) share many similarities, as both are happy-go-lucky, dumb, smart at times, friendly, naïve, and playful.
  • Coincidentally, They have the same voice actor.
• He is also the CatDog counterpart to Flapjack from the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.
